Dorothea “Dotti” Ann Warren, daughter, sister, aunt, and dear friend to countless, passed away on February 12, 2024 in West Covina, California. Dotti was preceded in death by her parents, Ralph Raymond and Dorothea Geraldine Warren, and her three brothers, John Henry, Phillip Raymond, and William Edward. She is survived by her best friend, Caroline Sisneros, and four nephews: Ty (Julann), Stephen (Jacquelynn), David (Melissa), and Daniel (Caroline).
Dotti was born on March 27, 1953 in Queen of Angels Hospital in Los Angeles, California and attended various schools around the Southland before graduating from Edison High School in Huntington Beach in 1971. She attended the University of Southern California from 1971-1975, earning a Bachelor of Arts in Classics. In 1976, UCLA hired her as a library assistant, where she worked for 34 years before finally retiring in 2011 due to health issues.
Dotti will be remembered for her insatiable thirst for knowledge and breadth of wisdom of all matters academic and pop culture. Friends and family cherished her beautiful, sometimes mischievous smile, her quick, dry wit, satirical sense of humor, and willingness to forgive.
Dotti showed immense loyalty and generosity to everyone in her family, and took tremendous pride in all of her brothers’ and nephews’ achievements, never missing a graduation or wedding. Many fortunate people learned that Dotti defined family very broadly, and simply loved being everyone’s aunt, regardless of whether they were a blood-relative, a student worker, or a furry and four-legged friend.
A Memorial Mass celebrating Dotti’s life will be held at 2pm on Monday, April 8 at St. Monica’s Catholic Church in Santa Monica. Please reach out to Caroline Sisneros if you wish to be contacted about the details. In lieu of flowers, we ask that you make a donation to Pug Nation Rescue of LA, Tunnel to Towers, or St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
