January 26th, 1952 - March 4th, 2019
Ida Gallo was born on January 26, 1952, in Placentia, California. She grew up there with her parents (Mary and Luis), her sisters (Evangeline and Patricia), and her brothers (Ruben and Raymond).
Ida attended schools in Placentia at McFadden Elementary, Kramer Intermediate, and Valencia High School. She maintained friendships with many of her school mates from each school throughout the years and that beautiful trait of nurturing relationships is not lost on anyone. Ida was determined to graduate college and she received her AA from Fullerton Jr College and her BA at Cal State Fullerton. Her family was extremely proud of her scholastic accomplishments.
Ida was passionate about educating youth and became a teacher, teaching for over 30 years, retiring in 2008.
Ida married Ernesto Suarez in 1979 and together they had two children, Elizabeth (January 1982) and Christina (1984). There was nothing she adored more than her family. And in July 2014, she welcomed her granddaughter, Emilie. Becoming a grandmother was the greatest joy in Ida's life. Ida happily spent a large amount of time in her final years watching her granddaughter and heavily influencing her life, so much so that they would enjoy many inside jokes and laughs together. Emilie would always say that her best friend was her grandma.
Ida was diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic and liver cancer in November 2018. The news was devastating for her family, but Ida promised to fight. Her family fought along with her and were able to bring her home from the hospital so she could be surrounded by love, top care takers, and a wonderful hospice care company. She passed in the comfort of her own bedroom on March 4, 2019. She is survived by her husband; Ernesto, daughters; Elizabeth and Christina, granddaughter; Emilie, brothers; Ruben and Raymond, sister; Evangeline, sister-in-law; Mary Suarez, along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and cherished friends.
Ida will be remembered for her beautiful, contagious smile, loving heart, and her utter joy for life. Her passing was untimely and she will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
