​​Josefina Hernandez, 91, passed away surrounded by her family, July 10,2018, at 4:40 PM, in Norwalk, CA

Services will be held Friday, July 20, 2018 from 5:00 to 8:30 PM at St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church, in Whittier.

She was born to Venceslado Montes and Soltera Luna Vd. De Lara on February 9, 1927, in El Paso Texas, then spending her early years in Ed. Juarez Chihuahua, Mexico. where she finished middle school. She worked as a cook in El Paso, where she met her husband: Juan G. Hernandez. They moved from El Paso, to East Los Angeles, CA, where she worked as a noonaid at Brooklyn Avenue School, they moved from East Los Angeles, to Whittier, where she lived for over 40 years before moving to a care home, in Norwalk, CA. While living in Whittier, She was a member of the Saint Gregory the Great Church parish, and was a member of the Guadalupe Society. She enjoyed singing, music, jumping rope with her kids, cooking, baking and doing crafts.

She is survived by nine children: Margarita Ortiz (AZ), Maria Evangelina Garcia (Francisco), Guadalupe Caro (Lazaro), Johnny Hernandez, Jr., Richard Hernandez, Enrique Hernandez, Mary Hernandez, Robert Hernandez(Martha) and Irene Sanchez (Richard).

Twenty grandchildren: Teresa Villa, Rebecca Ortiz, Hector Oswaldo Villa, Carlos Francisco Gracia, Margarita Julia Ortiz, Ruben Rodriguez, Gustavo Ruben Garcia, Enrique Hernandez, Jr., Michele Yvonne Hernandez, Michael Lazaro Caro, Luis Omar Villalobos, Christian Joy Garcia, Elizabeth Caro, Margarita Sabrina Medrano, Robert Hernandez Jr., Philip Ray Grant II, William Joseph Nolasco II, Johnny Raymond Caro, Josefina Mary Hernandez and Cassandra Kaygene Joyce Sanchez.

Garcia, Karma Rae Grant, Jizelle Aleena Rodriguez, Randy Allen Grant, Aleena B. She was preceded in death by two sons: Luis Villa & Luis Miguel Montes Villa, One grandchild: Evette Caro, Two great-grand children: Samantha Julia Ortiz-Solis & Juan Angel Caro, Her siblings: Maria Luisa Lara, Federico Lara, Norberto Lara, Enriqueta Luna, Gloria Luna.

She was a beloved Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother, Great Great Grandmother, Wife, Sister and Friend.
