Loretta Arzaga Bissonette

Loretta Arzaga Bissonette, of La Puente, California, entered into the loving embrace of our Lord on Monday, March 11, 2024 after succumbing to cancer. She was 54 years young.

Loretta was born on October 5, 1969, in Los Angeles, CA to Sam and Lupe Arzaga.  Loretta graduated from Bishop Amat High School in 1987 and went on to study at the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandise, graduating in 1989. She worked in various sectors of the fashion and healthcare industries. A magnanimous patron of people and the arts, Loretta was well known for her costume and clothing design, fashion styling, jewelry-making, and art.

In February of 2006, Loretta met James Bissonette in a modern whirlwind romance, and they were married in December of 2006 in Azusa, CA. While they did not have biological children, Loretta imparted an influential role on all of her many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends, as she left an indelible mark on us all with her powerful love and care. Always with a compassionate ear and a cup of coffee, Loretta will be remembered as a kind and loving soul, as opinionated as she was beautiful. She sought beauty and love in everything she touched. Loretta was a true “blessing in disguise” to all that she encountered, in true abundant love.

Loretta battled cancer for several years, first with breast cancer in 2015 and then, most recently, with leukemia. Her final years were spent doing what she loved: spending time with her husband and family, enjoying her fashion, art, and design pursuits, wheeling and dealing on Poshmark, and cuddling with her dog Roxie, all the while managing pain, her constant companion. 

Loretta was predeceased by her parents, Sam and Lupe Arzaga, and her brothers, Robert Lara and Samuel Arzaga Jr. She is survived by her husband, James, her two older brothers, Arturo and Frank, and her sisters, Maria and Lorraine, as well as her godchildren, Lawrence, Eric, and Tara, and countless nieces and nephews, cousins, friends, and family. 

Services will be held on April 6^th as follows: funeral service at 11:00 AM at Praise Chapel Family, 1900 W. Medford St, Montebello, CA, with Graveside Burial at 1:00 PM at Queen of Heaven Cemetery, 2161 Fullerton Rd, Rowland Heights, CA.
